About San Diego
San Diego, California has one of the best climates in North America so it's no wonder that visitors from all over the world come to enjoy San Diego's 70 miles of beautiful beaches and natural picturesque beauty. San Diego and the surrounding area is just packed with fun places to visit and activities for all the family. San Diego is the nation's eighth largest city and is spread out into several unique neighborhoods such as Little Italy, the Historic Gaslamp Quarter and East Village. These communities are explored below:
 
Main Attractions

Gaslamp Quarter - The historic Gaslamp Quarter is located right in the center of downtown San Diego. Here you could spend the whole day and night discovering the more than 90 restaurants, 40 nightclubs, bars and many retail shops.

Embarcadero - A great place to just hang out or spend strolling along the harbor where you can visit the waterfront marketplace at Seaport Village. Here you'll find a variety of shops and fine restaurants. If you so desire, you can hop on a ferry that will take you to Coronado. Another option would be to take one of the local harbor tours or seasonal whale-watching excursions.

East Village - East Village is a great place to enjoy the trendy restaurants, boutique stores and downtown's PETCO Park where you could visit the Padres fabulous home field. This is a great place to capture some of San Diego's magnificent skyline and harbor views

Balboa Park - Balboa Park is San Diego's largest urban park. There are 15 museums, restaurants and beautiful gardens. It is also home to the famous San Diego Zoo.

San Diego Zoo - Any visit to San Diego is not complete without a visit to the spectacular San Diego Zoo. Expect to see some of the most rarest and endangered animals on the planet including giant and baby pandas, polar bears and baby elephants. There are many wonderful seasonal events at the park including the winter "Festival of Lights" which transforms the park into a winter wonderland. Truly a must see!

SeaWorld - Seaworld is a 189 acre park that features six major shows and lots of exhibitions containing marine life from around the globe.

Legoland - There are more than 50 rides, shows and attractions.  Kids can learn to sail a galleon in the new Splash Battle attraction, act as a Knights for the Knights’ Tournament or pretend to be Firefighters at the Fun Town Fire Academy

In and Around San Diego

Harbor Island/Shelter Island - Enjoy the Spanish Landing Park or take a Fishing Charter from this scenic location that is close to the downtown area.

Coronado - If you are looking for a scenic side trip and an escape from downtown San Diego, take a drive to Coronado. The drive over the Coronado Bridge to Coronado is a scenic highway which passes many beautiful beaches and scenery. Once in Coronado you will discover charming streets and beaches. The town has a marketplace of shops, restaurants and galleries all located on Orange Avenue. Be sure not to miss Hotel Coronado, an historic landmark of fine Victorian architecture and oceanfront setting.

La Jolla - If you are looking for a quaint and upscale place to hang out, La Jolla's Rodeo Drive is the place. You could spend hours browsing the art galleries, jewelry shops, antique shops and designer clothing stores. There are also fabulous restaurants with spectacular views and world class cuisine. If you feel like a stroll, visit Torrey Pines State Reserve where you can hike through the pines or just enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches at La Jolla shores.

The South Bay - The home of more beautiful sandy beaches, Imperial Beach, National City and Chula Vista. Imperial Beach, a charming coastal town, hosts some of the best surfing and fishing in the area. If you are visiting in the summer, don't miss the Sand castle Competition that is held here.

San Diego North - In addition to the magnificent San Diego Zoo, you can find the town of Escondido. Escondido's Main Street is filled with antique stores, restaurants and the Kit Carson park which provides a great representation of California's myths and history.


San Diego Dining
If you are looking for relaxed, affordable dining in San Diego, the region is packed with authentic Mexican Taco stands and open air Mexican restaurants that serve up fabulous fish tacos and other traditional Mexican fare. If you are looking for a more culinary experience, San Diego has everything from French, Italian, Indian and other culinary specialties from around the world. There is no better place to dine in San Diego than on the waterfront where they are dining establishments scattered all along the 70 miles of coastline.
